Tourch Tips

  • Enter the miles at the end of the gig in the expenses section & the journal section.  Current rate is 55.5 cents per mile.  Keep track so that your accountant at the end of the year can expense those bad boys.
  • Always save your receipts.  Take a picture of them in the journal for each gig.  Then please recycle so our kids can play the same stages that we’re playing, ya know, save the earth and all.
  • Don’t forget to journal about load in, load out, club owners, crowd size, ticket sales etc. in the journal section so that when you play that venue again, you know what to do and what to expect.
  • Use the export function to export your gig information via email & .csv files.  That way you can keep track of everything in one place.  At the end of the month, import all of the info into a spreadsheet so that you can see how much loot you made.  Then you can justify buying that new guitar, keyboard or drum set.
  • When you’re creating a new gig, save time by copying the info from a previous gig, that way you just have to fill in the blanks at the end of the night.
  • Use the expense section to enter gas, food, payroll and other expenses that get in the way of making money.  Always shoot for a positive number at the end of the night!
  • When entering categories, use the copy function to pull in previously entered info from other gigs.  Save time so you can get back on stage.
  • In the journal section don’t forget to take pictures of the crowd, your band mates and everything else that goes on.  You want to remember this stuff for your autobiography right?
  • Teach your merch person how to use Tourch.  Make sure that they become an expert, that way you can just keep on doing what you’re doing….making great music.
  • Create a template gig with all of your merch info.  That way, everytime you create a new gig you have all of your info stored in one place, easy to update for the new gig.
